Quicken

Q is for Quicken

Definition

To revive; to cheer; to reinvigorate; to refresh by new supplies of comfort or grace.

What does the Bible say?

Psalm 71:20  You, which have showed me great and sore troubles, shall quicken me again, and shall bring me up again from the depths of the earth.
Romans 8:11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
Psalm 119:159  Consider how I love thy precepts: quicken me, O LORD, according to thy loving kindness
Isaiah 57:15  For thus says the One who is high and lifted up, who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: “I dwell in the high and holy place, and also with him who is of a contrite and lowly spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly, and to revive the heart of the contrite.
Psalm 119:107  I am severely afflicted; give me life, O Lord, according to your word!
Psalm 85:6  Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you?
John 16:33  In this world ye shall have tribulations, but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world

Personally....

I shared with a friend of mine earlier today what I call my other life. It was when I was in my late 20's still heavy into partying and had no clue what a life surrendered to Christ was. One particular evening my ex-husband had a scare that nearly rushed him to the ER. I bargained with God that night and said if he survived the morning, I would never touch alcohol or drugs again. What I didn't realize at the time was that sobriety would open my eyes, clear my mind and offer me a taste of a different kind of life. Now, 30 years later I may not have learned a lot, or made much of myself but this I do know, I fully understand the Gospel of Jesus Christ and when I die I know exactly where I am going!
